Example Thank You Notes For an Administrative Assistant

An administrative assistant may also be known as an administrative professional.

They do a variety of tasks depending on who they are working for. They often keep the office or workplace running smoothly behind the scenes.

Administrative Professional’s Day

Administrative assistant’s day is on the third or fourth Wednesday of April. It’s the Wednesday of the last full week of April.

This year, it’s on April 26. You can check the future dates here.

Thanking your administrative assistant on admin professional’s day is expected. However, you can surprise your assistant by thanking them throughout the year!

You may want to recognize them with a small gift, such as a gift card. Or, if you have the authority and budget, I’m sure they would appreciate having the day off paid.

What To Thank the Administrative Assistant For:

Admins spend their days completing tasks that help others.

  • Doing their job well. A good administrative assistant will keep things running well. Acknowledge their expertise.
  • Helping you out when in a bind. At my former workplace, I have witnessed the administrative assistant helping people with little notice when in a tight spot.
  • Arranging the catering for an on-site event. I bet you are glad you didn’t have to do this yourself!
  • Managing your calendar. This could be setting up meetings or limiting the number of meetings you attend.
  • Organizing an event. Everyone knows when an event has problems, so be sure to say thank you to your event organizer when things go smoothly.
  • Sending flowers on your behalf to your mom on her birthday.

Tip: Thank them for whatever they are doing that you appreciate! Be sure to thank them for something specific!

I recommend a handwritten card if you are at the same location as them. However, a thank-you email is OK too. Asking them for their home address is not good etiquette.

Also, the administrative assistant you are thanking can be someone other than your personal assistant. This person could be an administrative assistant for your entire team, group, department, or company.

And keep in mind that admin assistant job titles can vary, such as secretary, receptionist, and office administrator.

If your assistant is a virtual assistant, read this post.
