It’s no secret that cats are my favorite, and I enjoy spending time with cats every day.
I currently have nine cats, so as a cat lady, I feel cats are the best!
Here are some of my reasons for liking cats so much. The photos are of my actual cats.
You No Longer Need an Alarm Clock
The cat wakes you up each morning wanting food at the same time each day.
Sometimes, when you want to sleep in, this can be a bummer, but it’s also lovely to be greeted by the cat each morning.
Cats Teach Us Things
We can learn many things from cats.
I’ve learned to be more patient from having cats. When they are sick, all I can do is be patient while they are recovering.
Introducing new cats takes patience, as some cats need a lot of time to become friends with other cats.
Lower Blood Pressure
Cats can be good for your health.
According to Cleveland HeartLab, people with cats have lower blood pressure than those without cats.
Your Cat Waits at Home for You
Your indoor cats likely know your schedule. And cats like routine.
My cats have learned the sounds of our home. They know that my husband or I will walk in the door shortly after they hear our garage door open. Sometimes, one of the cats will meet us at the door.
Cats Are Great Listeners
My cats know all my secrets!
I also narrate my life to my cats as I tell them when I am going to bed, changing locations, going somewhere, or whatever I’m about to do next.
They seem to enjoy hearing about my life, and I don’t have to worry about them gossiping.
Cat Napping
My cats remind me of the importance of taking a nap when tired.
Stretching
The cats are also great at stretching every day, usually when they wake up from a nap. Thank you, my cat, for reminding me to stretch!
Caring for Cats Gives You Purpose

I am thankful to have cats in my life as they help give me a sense of purpose.
They depend on me for food, care, and playtime.
Spending time with a cat helps you focus on them instead of yourself.
Cute to Look At
Cats are adorable to look at. They come in many different colors.
I also like watching them hang out together.
Good Sleeping Habits
We can thank our cats for reminding us that beds are for sleeping.

Our cats love us even when they may not always show it.
He may ignore you or swat at you sometimes, but really, he loves you on the inside.
It’s the best feeling when one of my cats follows me around all day. Another example is when a feral cat lets you pet them after a few years of feeding them.
In the picture, Elwood was about to watch me paint because my cats like to supervise me.

Cats Demonstrate Friendship
When you have more than one cat, sometimes they will bond with each other.
My outdoor cats, who are only friendly with me as their feeder, show that cats have loving relationships with each other.
They follow each other around and greet each other by rubbing their faces on each. They are an excellent example of friendship.
Cats Entertain Us
Watching cats can make for fun entertainment, whether playing or hanging out.
You can also play with your cat to give them and you something to do.
Litter Box Usage
When your cat uses the litter box every time, you should thank them.
Our cat Buster likes to poop right next to the box. He’s been checked by the vet and is fine medically, so it’s becoming a hard habit to break.
Best Pet Ever
I am certainly biased as a cat lover.
Cats are the best pet I have ever had.

What if You Don’t Feel Thankful for the Cat?
Remember, it’s not all about you! Cats are not perfect.
They may have days when they miss the litter box or hide from you all day. But overall, cats make great pets if you or a family member are not allergic to them.

When Kittens Are Adopted
The cat and kittens in the picture were rescued from my yard. All of them were adopted to indoor homes. I kept the mom cat and the orange kittens.
I was very thankful for the people that adopted the other cats.
So, if you are in a situation where someone adopts your kittens, you may want to write a thank-you note to them.
Thank You to the Veterinarian
I have an excellent vet for my cats. He’s helped them over the years with many issues.
A good relationship with your vet can be beneficial when your cat has an emergency.
