Thank You For Inviting Me or Us to Your Wedding Messages

If you’ve been invited to a wedding or wedding reception, you may want to express your gratitude with a message or note of thanks.

The tips, template, and examples will help you with the wording of your message to thank them for the invitation to their wedding. Or to say thank you, if you’ve already been to the wedding or reception.

Important Etiquette Note:

Saying thank you with a message or note does not replace the RSVP card or digital ways of responding to the invitation.

If you received an RSVP or response card, that should still be mailed as soon as possible. Or if they requested your response in another way, still do that. You can learn how to RSVP to a wedding here.

Tips

  • If you are mailing in an RSVP card or postcard, there may be room to write “thanks for inviting us!” on the card.
  • If mailing back a response card in an envelope (not a postcard), you can handwrite a note on a separate piece of paper (or stationery or nice notepad paper) and stick it in the envelope.
  • You can mail a thank you note or send your thank you message as an email, text message, or another way.
  • The note contents will vary if you are sending your thank you after attending the wedding.

Template

This post is part of the thank you for inviting series. You can see more detailed “thank you for the invite” templates and tips here.

Note 1: Replace words in [brackets] as needed.

Note 2: The examples are the center section of the note only. Learn more about thank-you notes here.
