One of my favorite things about living in Michigan is we experience all four seasons. There are many nice fall days. The beautiful autumn days can help remind us of all we have to practice gratitude.
The sun is shining. The sky is blue. The leaves have changed to beautiful shades of yellow, red, and orange. It’s cool enough to wear a cozy sweatshirt or a flannel shirt. It feels like the perfect fall day.
Some activities only happen in the fall here in Michigan, such as fall color tours, corn mazes, sunflower mazes, and visiting pumpkin farms and apple orchards.
A Fall Day Gratitude Exercise
After walking through my neighborhood on one of those perfect fall days, I felt like I had a lot to be grateful for.
I made a list of what I felt grateful for during my walk.
My gratitude list:
- I am able to walk
- The sunshine felt great
- I have a smartphone on which I can take pictures
- I met a new neighbor for the first time
- The fall colors are stunning and extraordinary
- I live in a part of the world where the leaves change colors in the fall, and I can enjoy them
- The smell of the changing leaves
For your gratitude exercise, you don’t have to go for a walk (although you can if you want to). Choose a day and time, and list 5 to 10 reasons you feel grateful.
The list can also be written on plain paper, a note app on your phone, a journal, or a notebook you already have.
Remember that writing a gratitude list may be good for your health.
I Am Thankful For Leaf
Here is a fall leaf-themed “I am thankful for Leaf” template. It’s available in my Etsy shop as a PDF Printable. After purchased, it can be printed as many times as needed.
Adults and children can do this exercise.
